Men’s Clothing: Do You Buy Fast Fashion?

November 11, 2008 at 7:45 am (Fast Fashion) (, , , , , , , , )

I have asked a few male friends their opinions on fast fashion, or mass produced fashions that you see on the high street. Think Primark, H&M etc…

I wanted to know if they would buy men’s clothing from these stores, and most of them (8/10) said they wouldn’t and would rather buy one quality, designer item than spend the money on something that might fall to bits a few months later. I thought this was quite interesting because i have been a long-standing believer in buying quality over quantity, and designer clothes offer much more value for money.

Men, like women, don’t want something that’s going to be mass produced and churned off a production line. I think we all take pride in wearing something a bit more luxurious, which is exactly what designer clothes offer. So, you pay a little bit more money but you get a garment that is much more exclusive and unique.

By the sounds of it, men would prefer to spend the cash on something designer than cheap, fast fashion, and i don’t blame them!

Mens Vintage Clothing – Dig Deep!

November 3, 2008 at 7:49 am (Vintage Clothing) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Vintage clothing has really taken off over the last few years. Interestingly enough, you only really seem to hear about womens vintage clothing, but lets not forget about the men! Mens vintage clothing is very popular and we shouldn’t underestimate this.

So where do you buy mens vintage clothing? Well, one of the best places is eBay. There’s a whole heap of vintage finds on there. My tip is to search worldwide for some truly vintage pieces.

EBAY TIPS

If eBay sounds like searching for a needle in a haystack, try typing in these terms:

mens vintage
vintage trousers
vintage shirt
vintage mens bag
vintage bag

Also try typing in the decade of the which you want your clothing to come from, for example, 1960s shirt.

Another tip is to make sure you tick the little box underneath that lets you search the item title AND description. This means that if they haven’t been able to fit one of your keywords in the title, then it may be in the description of the item. Bear in mind, though, you will end up with a lot more results and you will have to sift through more clothes than you can shake a stick at!

I also recommend checking out Fashionspace. They have some great stuff from up and coming vintage-themed designers. Finding mens vintage clothing online just became easy!

Take, for example, mens cardigans – these have made a recent comeback and now many trendy male will be seen sporting the grandad style cardigan, knowing they look very on trend. But its not just about the cardigan – its about how you use it. The shirt underneath, the funky vintage style scarf wrapped around the neck…even the cord trousers end up making this great stylish mens vintage clothing apparel.

I love this site Candy Says; they have some great mens vintage clothing for all you hardcore guys out there! Proper, genuine vintage. 1960s shirts your thing? Check out Candy Says for the hottest in mens vintage clothing.
